Festival of Death, in my opinion is overrated, going into it I expected great things from the novel, however not being the biggest fan of the TV era it was trying to recreate I was disappointed. The plot itself was pretty good, very timey-wimey and ahead of its time. The conclusion of the novel, the last 50 pages or so I very much enjoyed and right up until the end it hides the way in which the Doctor will save the G-Lock that had been set up and foreshadowed even from the novel's blurb; the payoff defiantly delivers and is doesn't come out of nowhere that you might expect from a messy time travel story. I definitely feels like "Father's Day" or "Before the Flood" on acid while also sticking the rules of the Doctor Who universe when it comes to time-travel. Would absolutely recommend it to anyone a fan of The Doctor and Romana mostly, but it is a good read if you want a clever tie travel story :)
