Definitely one of the best of the Companion tales if you like strong characterisation and atmosphere.

An early adventure and a very classy one at that - great cast and great story - fabulous.

Doctor Who meets Dickens in this highly entertaining Victorian melange of Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol. Despite a slightly annoying music score and throwing away a few setpieces (such as the sequence on the underground train), this is a superiror entry in the series.

One of the best stories featuring the seventh Doctor - an excellent historical with a strong climax and some very clever time-whimey plotting.
