Vortex Ice is a very clever journey of the doctor interacting with his own personal time line. And we all know how dicey that can be!

The doctor is drawn to an "unknown energy source"or so we're first told. Landing the TARDIS with Pip in a cave located in Mexico. On arrival they of course bump into another party of scientists. The journey they jointly embark upon involves death, explosions, a cybernetic octopus with fantastic and quite disturbing powers over time itself. And of course, a crashed space ship.

This is an extremely clever story involving time. I can't say to much else I'll be including to many spoilers! Except to say that where you are in terms of the doctor's actual time line is more complex than you first imagine. In fact, its so cleverly done, this story is well worth another one or more listens to. That way you can turn truly appreciate the layers and twists the author has wound together and how these all connect very neatly in the end. Now, be warned, don't bother trying to make sense of this complexity the first time round. You won't be able to. For one, you don't get the final piece until right at the end! Nevertheless, it's still a fantastic amusing and wonderful mystery which fully explores the unique challenges of time travel.

In many ways it reminded me a lot of the seventh doctor stories. Because he's such a master at doing exactly what happens in this story. Although, for that doctor there circumstances after much more often intentional.

A wonderful story. I'll leave the review of the 2nd equally enjoyable story of this release to other reviewers

One of my greatest accidental discoveries. Sure, I recalled loving Charlie and the 8th doctor in the main series. In fact, they were my very first introduction to BigFinish and it's doctor who Main Monthly Story Collection. I loved every moment of it. But this, well, what an amazing treat this was!! Absolutely fantastic is all I can say. I was chomping at the bit for more at the conclusion of the first series. So much so I went into research mode and starting reading up on this most fascinating of monster and found that they were actually introduced quite some time ago in the story arc of the Main Collection. So I'm off to buy those stories and I've already bought series 2 and have just started the first episode. It's amazing. Charlie's found herself stranded now in modern earth history. There's some kind of conspiracy underway. It's all very cloak and dagger and very exciting. I can't say enough about this. It's truly one of the very best new series creations by BigFinish. It has a very refreshing new flavour to it. It's own personality. As far as I'm concerned it's now one of my top 2 BigFinish productions and that's saying something I promise you. Absolutely worth a 10/10 rating. I simply can't see how you wouldn't enjoy the ride! Highly Recommended.

An amazingly creepy horror story. Full of twists and nightmarish plot devices. A fantastic production and better still it's only part 1 of a Sarah Kingdom and 1st Doctor Companion Chronicles story arc or trilogy. I'm really looking forward to buying the next two stories (4.1 & 5.1 in the series) & listening to them as well. Brilliant.

A most enjoyable, classic fourth doctor and Jago & Litefoot combination. No great surprises here but still if your a fan of both the fourth doctor and Jago & Litefoot I'm sure you'll enjoy this simple mystery.
