Bernard Cribben's role is so wonderfully played - it is the saving grace of this otherwise CBBC offering. David Tennant's doctor gets a bit too narcissistic and I ended up being desperate to see the end of him. Everything else is light weight, campy and difficult to care about. Particularly John Simm's Master which -for me- is an example of exactly what can go wrong when you try to modernise retro icons. It worked with doctor who as a whole but the Master in a hoodie, eating human flesh and rhyming about it in order to emphasise how hungry he is just doesn't work - it would either need to be in a far darker adult version of doctor who or not at all. Bring back goaties and soft sinister laughing!
