This was terrible. The worst thing is that using a flying, planet-hopping bus almost certainly rules out the television debut of Iris Wildthyme. It would have been better to skip the specials and have the Moffat crew start a year early.

Bernard Cribben's role is so wonderfully played - it is the saving grace of this otherwise CBBC offering. David Tennant's doctor gets a bit too narcissistic and I ended up being desperate to see the end of him. Everything else is light weight, campy and difficult to care about. Particularly John Simm's Master which -for me- is an example of exactly what can go wrong when you try to modernise retro icons. It worked with doctor who as a whole but the Master in a hoodie, eating human flesh and rhyming about it in order to emphasise how hungry he is just doesn't work - it would either need to be in a far darker adult version of doctor who or not at all. Bring back goaties and soft sinister laughing!

Camp as Christmas on ice will an excess of rouge. But surprisingly incredible at the end- Catherine Tate is astoundingly good here and the climax alongside a spot-on score from Murray Gold is wonderful.

This was very exciting- only I found that the (ultimately completely unexplained) mystery of the monster was somewhat over-shadowed by the cardboard cut-out soap opera characters. The actor-warm up of repeating words turned into a monster is brilliant and works so well here. It's just a shame the rest of the script is a bit lazy.
