This story is jam packed. Some great ideas with an overall interesting story. But Sophie's seventh doctor impersonation is often simply sounding like an irish accent and prevents you from concentrating at times

The Doctor and Ace board a ship that's evacuating a solar system being destroyed by the cataclysmic collapse of their sun. Ace finds the Doctor's reason for being here is to obtain a rare artifact from the hold. However, things quickly go wrong and the ship risks being caught in the shockwave.

Overall, this was an interesting story. I love the idea of the set up and of the Doctor not trying to prevent the catastrophe (as Ace seriously suggested he do) but trying to escape this truly fearsome event. Ace is an interesting character throughout. While I didn't find this to be among the best stories in the series, it was good in its own right and a very entertaining hour.

Shockwave is interesting in the fact that it sees the Seventh Doctor without a big master plan and really only there to steal something that he owns. While that could make for a tense heist story with the surrounding planet getting ready to blow up which leads to the titular shockwave. Sadly James Swallow goes for standard let's save these people and the heist is an afterthought. Really the story had a lot of potential but is really average. It doesn't help that Sophie Aldred is playing the Doctor with an over the top Scottish accent that sounds extremely fake. She also doesn't have the best vocal range so many of the characters sound similar. It doesn't help that the plot itself is really boring.

I do love to hear Sophie, but I have never liked her voice for 7. She makes him sound silly and over emphasises the Scottish accent.
Other than that, she reads it brilliantly. You easily get a feel for which ear of Ace's life she is in.
The story is nothing speical though. Its more serious than the previous one and involves a ship trying to escape the shockwave of an exploding star while the Doctor and Ace lie about their identities while trying to do someing spoilerish.
