This adaptation remains faithful to the book. The Time Traveler has to carry much more of the story than any of the prior protagonists and Ben Miles does a great job, managing to capture the character's curiosity and warmth.

Another cracking listen in this first class range, superbly adapted by Marc Platt. If you're familiar with the 1960 Rod Taylor movie, the plot of the first half is very close to it. But the second half (after the most chilling cliffhanger in the range yet) goes off into largely new territory, with a compelling and thought-provoking ending. The social commentary is a little dated in places, but this is a faithful adaptation of a novel published in 1895, so no marks off for that.

An excellent story, well adapted by Marc Platt, but a bit of a listless, emotionless performance by Ben Miles muddied an otherwise excellent story. Sound design and dialogue was great, but Miles just lacked the emotion of the Time Traveller throughout the story.
