Another very solid adaptation. This story does a great job capturing the pure terror experienced by Edward Prendick both at sea and when landing on this mysterious island and fearing what might happen to him next. The sound production and acting combine brilliantly to draw the listener into the story. I do think the story loses a little momentum soon after the start of the second half, but it picks up again at the end. Overall, a well-produced and well-acted piece.

The HG Wells series continues with another cracker, but of a different kind. This is a tale that's much more horror than sci-fi, with some truly gruelling sequences that make for uncomfortable listening at times. It's also a story unalloyed by humour, so don't expect to be cosseted in your fear. Just be ready for a dark, thrilling, scary treat.
