Series 1, sets up an incredibly exciting new series. It’s a continuation of the “Mission of Viyrans” story arc, which begins in the Main Range. It covers multiple episodes and Doctors.

I like listening to multistory Story Arcs. It can be a really enjoyable way to listen to BigFinish. As a newcomer, the Main Range can be really daunting. It’s so huge isn’t it. How to approach it is a natural question. Obviously, buying their subscriptions is one way (the way I prefer, mainly because I want to eventually buy the whole range). But if your looking just for a selection or a logical way to buy the stories, I’d suggest 2 ways. The 1st is to look here on TimeScales and buy the highest rated episodes first. Alternatively or in combination, do a little research or use BigFinish’s built in search engine. It’ll tell you “some” of the Story Arcs and which stories belong to which.

This series is a continuation of the Mission to Viyrans Story Arc.
Look, I agree at times this series can seem a tad disjointed, nevertheless it’s one of the most exciting Boxsets I’ve heard. A real sci-fi adventure like the ilks of Vienna. Series 2 starts out with a loud bang & a roar! I loved it. I immediately wanted more and unlike series 1, which crossed multiple settings, this season is a set of continuous progressive stories set on Earth.

It’s an exciting action story. A real roller-coaster. I think it’s heaps of fun and don’t really understand or relate to the generally average ratings. Don’t be put off by a rating of 6/10. That’s actually a very common rating and given its coming from devoted Doctor Who fans, suggests they did enjoy the story. But for them, it just didn’t scream “amazing”. But you can’t appeal to everyone all of the time and many of Nicholas Briggs series have been award winning and some of the most popular titles at BigFinish. For example: War Doctor, Dalek Empire, The Prisoner, Dark Eyes, etc.

As far as I’m concerned it’s a brilliant boxset. I highly recommend it.

Review to justify rating

I take it as a given that an audio production from Big Finish will be of a high quality - the soundscape, music, acting and directing - and this release is no exception. So my ratings are always based on how much I enjoyed the story. How much fun I had listening.

Series two is one story told in four parts.

Part 1 - Embankment Station
Like the first series there had been a very long wait with the release also being delayed. As such expectations rise, coupled with the fact that Charley is a favourite of mine I was excited to hear where she goes next.

One of the problems with her first series was that she seemed to never be driving the story and was just a passenger in her own show! This story does nothing to rectify that problem.

After the last Charlotte Pollard box set two and a half years prior, this story needed to set the stage and define a bit of a status quo as they transitioned into a brand new situation. Overall, this first chapter does it's job nicely as we're given a sense of mystery at a new unknown alien menace, as well as introduced to several supporting characters. At the same time, Charley and Robert are still getting to know each other and out of life threatening peril and back on Earth Charley takes a more cautious step back from a romance with Robert.

Well, I'd be hesitant to say this story did anything amazing, it did everything well. It raised many questions and set our favorite Edwardian adventuress on a collision course for adventure.
