The Doctor takes Liv back to Kaldor where the robots start killing people.

That is the plot summary and the entire selling point. There is very little more to it other than nostalgia. For what it is, it is good. It does add a bit to the story of Kaldor. It introduces us to Liv's sister and some of her history. It just isn't particularly special.

The Doctor decides to take Live back home to Kaldor for a visit where once again, they encounter deadly robots. As a Kaldor Robots story, this is so-so. It doesn't really break ground though it does serve as a bridge between the Seventh Doctor release Robophobia and the Fourth Doctor story, "The Sons of Kaldor," that I'm not sure was necessary. Other than that, it's a story of corporations being stupidly evil because they can.

What makes the story worth listening to is that we do get an exploration of Liv and her family, and also a bit of a look at the relationship between Liv and Helen. There are some nice insights provided as well as some hints for future stories that do make this a decent start to the box set.

This box-set feels a bit like a last-minute mashup. Its title says "Ravenous 2", but the first three stories could be best described as a Christmas special. Only the fourth story has anything to do with the species, or, indeed, with the plot of Ravenous 1.

That said, "Escape from Kaldor" is a nice enough story with signature hosts of ever so unreliable Kaldor robots and some new information on Liv Chenka's background.
