The story has a simple enough plot: The Doctor, Ace, and Hex arrive in 1945 where a thief has ripped off some space aged tech. What makes this story stand out is the character work for both Ace and Hex. For Ace, she confronts her own childhood and the past that will shape her future, in many ways revisiting some of the ideas in Ghost Light. At the same time, Hex gets to the cusp of learning about his past. The story manages to call back to the Forge stories of six years previously and also set the stage for more stories to come. This is quite a bit for a 25 minute story, but it pulls it off quite brilliantly.

This see's our three souls travelling back to the London of post war 40's. What comes as more of shock is that it is the London of ACE's mother's time. Not many get the chance to say hello the mother, as a baby! This element is worked well, and I must admit that Sophie as ACE plays this part well, in fact, it is quite emotional at the realisation of ones own being is actually touching, and well portrayed by Sophie. The story again only running at 30 minutes is quick, snappy and works well. Telling the tale of local thief whom as taken some items that he really shouldn't. In fact he would have done better leaving alone. The FORGE raises it's ugly head here in this fleeting episode. Nice, concise and enjoyable, you could ask no more.
