I good idea (to me at least) this is the first monthly to split its four parts into four stories!
Spring is not overly complex. It’s a simple story where the doctor and Nyssa are sent to an avian races world to find a rogue timelord and effect events in this society.
They find him in charge and rather taking the rules into account rather than influencing them ... but this could still be trouble

I found that I enjoyed it because it was quick and simple and a good listen while headed to work.

Big Finish 91
Circular Time (A) Spring
Released January 2007

Location : Rain forest on unknown planet
Date : 2001

The mention of The Doctor being Prydonian is rare indeed yet it also rare for him to be in the companionship of just Nyssa. The time can be determined by Nyssa commenting that the Doctor must have a fear of heights after he fell off the telescope in reference to his regeneration from 4 to 5 in 1981. The Doctor states that was "20 years ago" placing this story in 2001. The story is about the Doctor being sent by command of Gallifrey to locate Zero aka Lord Cardinal.

The Doctor & Nyssa learn of some horrific laws here where the bird race of people are torturing children for the actions of their parents. We also have another TARDIS which is disguised as a lake, and the only known incident of a time lord regenerating into another form of life.

The high point for me was Nyssa as the voice of Sarah Sutton is like a purring kitten, lush and lovely and Sarah gives a fine performance which has me looking forward to the other three stories in this release.

Circular Time is one of my all-time favorite Big Finish releases, but this is probably the runt of the litter. It's still a great listen. The society of the bird people and the moral dilemmas it presents, along with the revelations that come later, help it triumph over its flaws. Definitely worth a listen, though.

The Doctor and Nyssa arrive on a planet of bird people where Cardinal Zero has retired having abandoned the Time Lords, who want the Doctor to get him to return. However, the Doctor begins to feel compelled to interfere due to the society's laws in which the family's of guilty people suffer for their crimes. This is a well-acted piece that puts a good deal of thought into its subject and creates a realistic society.
