The use of the term "dumb" does not apply to the sense of stupid but rather a silent person whom does not speak. And some of the time you have to look out for the quiet ones.

In this episode it is revealed that the TARDIS has what is called simply a Food Machine. I guess this would be similar to the food replicators in Star Trek : The Next Generation. It is said to be in the hallway just outside the control room and someone or some thing has been eating from it and tossing disused meat bones on the TARDIS floor near it. Jamie decides to hide and watch it. It turns out to be Leela.

When I received this box set in the mail I clearly remember looking at the cover and then suddenly realizing that Leela is on the cover of a 2nd Doctor box set. Why? Leela was a 4th Doctor companion. As it turns out Louise Jameson is a guest in this story and it is explained that the 4th Doctor sent her back with a time ring.

I decided to purchase this box set after I realized that Frazer Hines can perfectly and almost magically emulate Patrick Troughton and as expected he pulls off his masterful acting once again. Oddly I found that the character Mrs De Winter to sound so much like Leela that it was confusing, only later to learn by reading the credits that Mrs De Winter was in fact voiced by Louise Jameson as well. I am impressed in that this was a wonderful and fun story and aside from it taking me back to the era of the 2nd Doctor it was a great surprise and pleasure to find Leela in the same story.

This story brings Jamie and Leela together in an adventure when the Fourth Doctor sends Leela back in time with a time ring as the Second Daughter and his companions find themselves at an unreal garden party.

This is a very fun story. It features a good mystery for the Second Daughter to work out, plus Louise Jameson shows the strength of her range with a great guest character. As for the team up itself, the story does everything right. It manages to treat both Leela and Jamie with respect while giving each of them moments to shine. The story references some TV shows without becoming overdone. It's a lovely story that really is a great showcase for these two great characters.
