A very different finale for Jago and Litefoot that finds something very wrong with our heroes and it's up to Ellie and Inspector Quick to save the day.

Overall, this was an intriguing and well-done episode. The idea of Jago and Litefoot being under alien influence but it not changing their personality is a fascinating premise and it's well acted by our two leads. The whole plot is fascinating, and I love the scenes on the trail which are very well realized for audio.

The ending sets the stage for Series 9, which I'm sure we'll be very tame because after all nothing bad could happen on a cruise...

Higson & Quick: This series has been a breath of fresh air, and of a consistently high quality. Patsy features here again with some role reversal between characters. Higson & Quick are given more to do than usual, and the titular duo throw in a few surprises.

In a series that has the theme of possession it's only fitting that we see 'Jago & Litefoot' fall under the spell of possession of the Dark Facade themselves! Obviously our usual protagonists becoming antagonists leaves a vacant position that is swiftly filled by the ever reliable Higson and Quick.

There's a fabulous ending and a recovered 'Jago & Litefoot' decide to book a cruise.

Higson & Quick is unusual for Jago & Litefoot in that it is the second part of a two part story.

The rather creepy aliens from the previous story were dealt with... apparently. The only thing left to do is for Inspector Quick to dispose of the alien's embryonic fluid, but Patsy is acting strangely, as are our titular heroes, and it seems like embryonic fluid is trickier stuff than expected.

This is a good solid story which brings back the marvellously awful mudlark, Patsy from the previous episode and leaves you wondering throughout exactly how far the influence of the Darkling Facade has spread. Ellie Higson and Inspector Quick are key players working to stem the mayhem that unfolds, and the whole episode is full of surprises and jarring moments as you realise that characters are perhaps not what they seem.

8.5 Higson & Quick
Well, well, what has happened now, we thought that we had seen the last of the embryonic fluid and those dastardly alien creatures, however it seems, that Jago, Litefoot and Elle are now under the fluency of the nasty stuff, and that they are now part of the darkling facade. Who will come to their rescue and save them from their particular nasty end. Ellie with the aid of Quick will save the day.

I liked that fact that to quote Jago "We fight the frightful foes, and one day we become the frightful foes" a fitting end, with, the last few minutes of the adventure. With Jago, calling upon Litefoot, at his theatrical home, the ending, literally had me hanging on the last word of the wonderful two. Lightfoot, suggesting a holiday for them to get over their exploits in Box Set 8.

Brilliant and roll on Box Set 9.....
