This third volume covers one large story told in 3 parts: The Armageddon Storm. This is the name given to a particularly fierce weapon capable of destroying all life on a planets surface, and seriously disturbing the planet as a whole. It is set in the third season, after Rumours of Death. Del Grant rejoins the crew in a quest to find the weapon, disarm it and stop destruction of the the planet Shorrin, which has recently managed to dislodge the Federation from local rule.

In this second episode, Cally and Vila are down on Shorrin, contacting the local rebel group. They discover that the rebel Shorrinites have developed a secret weapon to help them in their fight, which has the unfortunate consequence of bringing intense interest of the Federation. When searching a fort, disturbing remains of experiments are found.

The rebels are led by a charismatic, large charismatic man who welcomes Vila and Cally as friends of Del Grant, the mercenary who has been helping to coordinate search for the Federation’s weapon of mass destruction.

What is this weapon? Why does it disturb the Federation so much? Has the positioning of the Weapon been found?

I enjoyed the incidental music and sound effects, though sometimes I felt the sound lagged behind the narrative just a little – but that might just be me having listened to it several times….

As a continuation of the major story for this volume, the writing is very good and highlights some of the experiences of people who have been fighting desperately to save their way of life, and also of some of the ordinary people who get trapped between the two warring factions.

Jan Chappell and Michale Keating share the story telling and they are wonderful together. They demonstrate the comradely affection and trust that Cally and Vila have for each other.

A very good second part of the story which really explores Villa and Cally's characters.

Again, Mark and Cavan tell a story that is true to the original and that feels almost like a full cast.

As in the first episode, it ends with a very good cliff hanger.
