The Stealers of Dreams sees the Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack arrive in a dystopian city on a faraway planet in the distant future where any kind of untruth or fiction is strictly forbidden. There are a number of interesting twists to this basic premise, making sure the plot never becomes predictable. The resolution emerges quite naturally from the various story strands and brings the mystery to a congenial conclusion. Similarly, the way the three protagonists are split up for most of the adventure seems completely organic and doesn't feel contrived at all.

There is a fairly limited cast of supporting characters, but they are all well-chosen and nicely fleshed out personalities, each representing a different aspect of this futuristic society. This is very effective, because the listeners genuinely care what happens to all the characters and at the same time there is plenty of background information to paint a vivid picture of the city and its inhabitants. To top it off, there are numerous references to various episodes of this particular TARDIS team, neatly anchoring The Stealers of Dreams in series 1.

Camille Coduri is an absolutely wonderful narrator. She gets Jack's and Rose's accents really well and makes all the other characters easy to distinguish. Plus, she seems to be a very natural reader: her delivery is nicely paced and she manages to convey some genuine emotions, which helps to make this an incredibly enjoyable listen.
