What can I say? A story that has that live and ambitious vibrant feel that is carried throughout series 4 of Doctor Who, full of well driven character and development, visible settings and perfect writing by the talented Gary Russell!

Beautiful Chaos is the fourth book I've read in a spam of Doctor Who reading and I was really taken by surprise, although I loved reading the previous novels this one was such a strong story with great continuity for fans of both the classic and new series.

Characters are loyally writing with insightful and gripping writing which drags you into the story. This story is a love letter to the final years of RTD's era, a note to Donna, to Wilf, Sylvia and of course The 10th Doctor. This story is similar to Big Finish's Companion Chronicles, with a prelude, with Wilf on the allotments with Sylvia and after, we get chapters titled under dates for the main adventure which take a place in between Forest of the Dead and Midnight.

The Mandragora was a great choice to revive into New Who, with true malavelance and megalomania that was written perfectly. The main threat did, at times, get overwritten by the sub plot of Wolf's lover, Netty, having Alzheimer's, and with care and perfect delivery, the sub plot felt real and truest impactful. As said, it did steal the show from Mandragora's "big plan", but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

Overall, this story is one of the best Who novels I've read and is one I would highly recommend - I'm very critical with ranking and giving scores, but hands down, this story deserves 10/10!
