When I saw this book was from Mark Morris I didn't expected something great. The cover and the title don't look like a 'classic book', and trust me, like many other new series adventure, it isn't great.

The idea of the range was probably to put the Doctor somewhere, give him a joke to tell, make him stupid, put a monster, get the companion captured, use the sonic screwdriver, and beat the monster.

That's how every book of the NSA work. Here the Doctor is the tenth like we know him, and I'm not a great fan of him. Martha is good but is quickly kidnapped by pumpkins monsters.

There's a team of young boys who play the main supportives characters. They're not bad but not brilliant. The others member of the cast are... blank. The monsters look like the Carrionites (there's even some mentions of them).

This isn't the story of the year but it's fun if you read it at Halloween. I've read it after Christmas so I wasn't in the atmosphere but I quite enjoyed it after all. It's a basic Dr who story with some good moments (when the childs kill their parents) and some bad (when the Doctor take his sonic screwdriver for nothing, just because it's one of the main gadgets in the NS)

You only need this if you've read every others novels or if you're a completist or... if you're a young boy fan of Tenant's Doctor.
