One of my favourite Big Finish B7 Productions. An extra to Volume 11

Avon teleports back to the Liberator where Jenna is waiting – only to tell her he has been hurt and everyone else is dead – now they have to escape a pursuit ship attack.

After their escape, Avon does not want to talk about what happened. Jenna decides to leave rather than travel just the 2 of them together, so they go to a handy space station to seek a new ship for her and a replacement pilot for him – they share a drink and the whole story comes out. A mistake on the mission meant that the others had no opportunity to survive.

Avon tries to persuade a pirate to join him, Jenna overhears a stranger reporting his presence to the Federation, and there is a fire alarm, so they flee. The pirate has a different agenda, Jenna is still on the ship. Now they are trapped by the gravity well of a sun and pursuit ships again are threatening them. There are few options, but Avon is determined not to be captured.

The result is definitely surprising – survival and surprises. And Jenna is again made to be suspicious of Avon’s motives – and perhaps we learn a little of why these two never really seemed to get along all that well.

This is really a pure adventure story – no special issues to discuss or ponder – but a great story to enjoy. Again it is amazing the depth of detail included about how space stations may work and the dangers that are common – and even a little about how families handle bringing up children in space. The sound effects are superb, the music non-intrusive. The writing is excellent and some of the lines are truly amazing. Jenna and Avon get more one on one time than they ever get in the TV series. Look out for Probably Illegal and its effects...

Sally Knyvette is very good – she voices her emotional ups and downs and her concerns brilliantly. And of course, Paul Darrow is superb. Really this is a great production I like to listen to over again and again – it is just all good.
