What a real cracker of a story - excellently written, excellently paced, excellently enacted, and the sound design is very effective and immersive. The story is very mathematics-based, suiting the return of Adric, I suppose - the story manages to be both simple and smart, and to feel plausible. It moves along with great energy, and it never appeared to drag at any point, for me. This is the kind of story I would recommend to people new to Big Finish audios, as a way to introduce them to the kind of quality Big Finish can produce. A really solidly entertaining story.

I think looking at this box set overall, this story is the stronger one of the two. However, I rated the other story (Psychodrome) a 9, so that story is no slouch either! The whole set is a great reintroduction to the classic crew of that period. Highly recommended.

Quickie story, arguably a little too short for the interesting plot points it lays out, but I thought it worked very well and the soundscape was very effective. Nice use of real historical elements (Howard Carter, before he discovers the tomb of Tutankhamun) meshed with the fantastical/sf elements. There's a plot twist concerning the character Lucy Adams plays that ups the interest-level of the story, but I won't reveal it in this review to avoid spoiling it for you. A story I would happily listen to again, recommended.

Doctor Who meets Gaudy Night - from the setting of a poison pen writer menacing a ladies' college, right down to Peri being mistaken for a Harriet Vane-like mystery author who sets about to discover the culprit. I thought it was a good tightly-written story, basically a whodunit in form, with some entertaining bits about the Doctor and Peri finding themselves in swapped Doctor/Assistant roles. Peri necessarily takes greater command of the situation in this story compared with the Doctor, and it's handled very well. A fun half hour, I enjoyed it.

This audio made for a very engaging listen - an immediately gripping story that was generally fast-paced, with lots of action and a sense of genuine peril for certain characters, all within a convincing aural environment. I thought the acting was excellent throughout, and Danika was an especially well-realized and well-enacted character - I was disappointed when she turned down the offer to join the Doctor as a companion as I'd love to hear more of her with this Doctor, or other Doctors. I originally gave this an 8, but I'm going to revise up to a 9 - I really enjoyed this story.
