A beautiful story told clearly. Nathan is a great character and Maggie remains a joy to listen to. Knowing very little of the original show, it's nice to be told the story of the widow of Widow's Hill. Can't recommend this play highly enough.

This is a romantic tale, inspired apparently by Kathryn Leigh Scott's own suggestion, but it is told without overt sentimentality - just enough to appreciate how much Maggie Evans feels for the stranger she meets, and how she relishes company after her recent troubles. Leigh Scott is superb and really conveys the emotions her character feels - and so does Alec Newman as Nathan. So appealing are they that the listener really wants them both to find happiness. Maybe they do...

The other thing I really like about this is that it gives a real sense of community to Collinsport. Little touches of exposition in the dialogue allow us to picture the place in a very satisfying way, making this one of the more 'visual' stories so far. I'd like to hear more of this sense of isolated community (perhaps this has been explored in titles I've yet to hear). It adds a sense of realism; the spiteful old girl in the shop, the place where Kathryn and Nathan meet for a drink - these things and more were described in just enough detail to make the area come alive. Wonderful.
