Iris Wildthyme regenerates into a man-a man who doesn't drink and spouts self-help cliches and pours all their booze down the drain much to Panda's annoyance. However, a crisis with the Naxians and an earth-threatening crisis brings the truth.

The first half of this story works really well, but I think the second part is a bit of a letdown. Good comedy comes out of characters acting consistent with who they are, so jokes are built around them and that's what happened int he first half. In the second half, gags became all important whether it actually made sense with who the character was or not. Still, while it could have been a bit more consistent, this odes have some great in-jokes and plays nicely with the idea of regeneration.

An absolutely brilliant Pastiche of 80s Who, this is an episode you have to listen to several times over to appreciate. I've listened to it about three times, and I still catch new continuity-laden in-jokes every time - like the next incarnation of Iris Wildthyme having a 'dark velvet' costume that the companion loved!
